Rewind: It’s a GIRL!

A few weeks ago, my doctor called and told me what my mama intuition already knew – we are expecting a baby girl! I took the call and then surprised Brett by putting letters on a board that said “I am going to have a baby sister! Yay!” and having Morgan hold it up for him.

Brett and I both said we would be nervous to have a girl (we feel we have raising a boy down so we were going to feel more comfortable with another boy LOL)! However, when I heard “baby girl” it all just felt right.

I am also thankful that the genetic testing results came back normal. The same week I got the QNatal results I had my 12-week ultrasound where the tech was able to confirm that baby is a girl. I had to ask because I know those tests can sometimes be wrong!

During the ultrasound, she was very still! She must have been sleeping because eventually she started moving around a little and stretching her legs. This ultrasound was very different from Morgan’s, as he was WILD and moving like crazy. Maybe my babies will be opposite – one with lots of energy and another that is more reserved (like me)!

Currently, I am 15 weeks pregnant, almost 16. My morning sickness – actually, evening sickness – is subsiding a bit, but I am still incredibly tired. Morgan’s poor sleeping habits lately are partially to blame. I’m sure I am still getting better sleep right now than I will starting in December, though, so I’ll try to stop complaining! I have spent a lot of time on the couch from weeks 6-14 and I am grateful to be stuck to it a little less often now.

In the past week, my belly has really started to show! That’s always a rewarding feeling, to finally have something to show for all the sickness and fatigue that’s been dragging you down. I think I am looking a little bigger this time around (belly-wise) which I heard is normal for second pregnancies. My shorts are becoming a little uncomfortable around my waist now so dresses are definitely my friend lately! I recently made a Shein order which included dresses and maternity shorts for vacation in a couple weeks. I imagine my favorite outfit in steamy Alabama will be swimsuits, though…sun’s out, bump’s out!

Brett and I have been talking about our plan for a nursery. Since we only have two bedrooms upstairs and we don’t feel comfortable having Morgan in the basement alone, we will just keep baby girl in our room with us. I am excited to decorate half the room with her things! It will mostly just be one wall that we will need for her bassinet, rocking chair, and dresser/changing table. I will get my decorating fix that way!
