A less-than-perfect night of sleep & a stormy morning weren’t enough to put a damper on our day today. We got to steal another peek inside at Kylie Brett!
Kylie reminded us a little of Morgan during the ultrasound because she wasn’t in a great position for many profile shots. We did get a couple glimpses of her perfect little lips and nose, though! She was facing my back the whole time which made it difficult to see her face, but the ultrasound tech was able to get good angles on other parts of her that were typically hard to capture, so I was thankful for that. My doctor will end up scheduling another ultrasound for me soon!
Morgan didn’t understand much about what was happening, but when he heard Kylie’s heartbeat, he said “Is that thunder?” He had heard plenty of thunder from the storm this morning and associated the sound of her heartbeat with that. I thought it was super cute!
After we got home, Morgan and I drank hot chocolate while we baked some “Kylie Cookies” because what else is better to do on a rainy day than that? Other than watching a movie and taking a nap, which we are currently working on.
It’s hard to believe my pregnancy is already halfway over. It is bittersweet! This pregnancy has been totally different from my first, including the number of bump pictures I have taken. I hadn’t taken a single picture with my bump until vacation time at 19 weeks! I would say the reason for that is the “been there done that” mindset that comes with second (and third, and so on) pregnancies, but the truth is, the reason is because I haven’t been on social media! I have spent less time posting on social media and more time being present during this pregnancy. Even after I am done with my social media break, I won’t be posting anything about my pregnancy. I like the privacy!
I still have been dealing with the occasional queasy stomach, usually in the evening. But for the most part, my nausea is gone and I am so thankful. That was rough! I am also thankful I was mostly sick during the summer, or else I would have been miserable at work for longer than just the 2-3 weeks that I was in April/May.
I return to work next week, and I am nervous about how tired I am going to be. Being pregnant during the school year with Morgan didn’t affect my life as a teacher much, but I was also getting plenty of sleep. I also didn’t have to worry much about maternity leave plans as I was due at the end of the school year! This time around, I am not able to get much sleep due to discomfort, Morgan’s poor sleeping habits, and anxiety. I will also have to spend a lot of extra time planning for my long term sub (January-March plans are going to take a long time to plan out).
I think the next half of my pregnancy will really fly by! The school year starting will keep me extremely busy and before we know it, it’ll be the holiday season and this girl will be due to arrive! I think she will come December 19th or 20th (her due date is the 23rd). It will be interesting to experience having a newborn during those winter months…what a perfect season to be all snuggled up with a baby!
Sharing about life, love, home, & everything in between – and taking far too many pictures of it all!
