Memorial Day Weekend 2022

I was just telling Brett today that I think I have already had a busier summer than I have had in a long time, and it has only just begun!

When I first met Brett, he told me that he feels very passionately about racing and that every year, there is a race at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO that hosts the Show Me 100 races. He told me that every year, his plans are to attend that race, so to not make any other plans lol!

With the weekend being a busy one with my own commitments, I originally planned on staying home from the races with Morgan while Brett camped there and enjoyed one of his hobbies. I was glad, however, when I decided to go to the races for a night to kick off my weekend! Brett’s mom watched Morgan while my sister-in-law and I traveled to Wheatland to watch the first night of the races and camp for the night. It was so fun to experience one of Brett’s favorite hobbies. He grew up watching his dad race dirt modified cars and his step-dad build race car engines – so you could say he has pretty good reasons to be into it!

One guy that Brett’s step-dad builds engines for is Mason Oberkramer, who Brett loves to support and has become good buddies with! (Check out Brett’s Business logo on the car below – Premier Flatwork!) I finally got to meet him and his family this weekend and it was such a fun experience to watch a night of the races and then talk with the family. I went home to Morgan early the next morning because I then had my friend’s wedding to prepare for!

Saturday night, my friend Aubrie tied the knot! Her wedding happened to be just a few minutes from my house, so I took Morgan with me for the ceremony and then took him home to feed him supper and do his bedtime routine in time for my mom to come over to my house to stay for a few hours. Then I went back to enjoy the reception! Aubrie and I have many mutual friends between us two and between our husbands, too, so it was really a great time with great people!

So calm and quiet leading up to the ceremony! But once it started, you bet this boy was noisy and restless, lol!
Lucky that a fellow mama & friend helped me wrangle him (while also taking care of her own, who was a flower girl)!

On Sunday night, Brett, his mom, sister, and I traveled to Camdenton, MO to Ozarks Amphitheater for a Cody Jinks concert. We love Cody Jinks! It was my third one I have been to and definitely not my last. Already looking forward to the next one!

On Monday – Memorial Day – my mom hosted a family get together with all of my aunts, uncles, cousins, and their kiddos. My aunt and uncle were in town from Georgia, so it was a perfect time to get together. All 7 of the great grandsons were in attendance, as well! There was a water balloon fight between the boys and I hope we do it again next year when Morgan can participate a little better. He is the youngest one of the family, until my cousin has her baby girl in the fall!

Today, Tuesday, has been an extremely rainy day. Like, we had a river running down through our property, lol! But it gave us a good excuse to sleep in and just hang out at home & wind down from a fun, hectic weekend.

I hope your weekend was full of fun and that you also were reminded of the reason for this “long weekend!”
