Our little man’s room is my fav room in our home! It always has been, but especially now because it’s HIS. When the walls and beams in our home were up, Brett and I walked throughout the house and wrote bible verses in each room. We knew the guest room would one day be a nursery, so I chose a fitting verse:

“You can go to bed without fear; you will lie down and sleep soundly.” Proverbs 21:25-26

Boy do I hope he does sleep soundly!

When we first started on the nursery, honestly, we didn’t have a vision on what “theme” we wanted. But I had seen a board and batten wall on Pinterest and Brett made it happen as part of my Christmas present! We weren’t super picky with the paint color because we didn’t really have anything in mind yet for the rest of the nursery, so we went to Home Depot and found a pretty dark blue that we both loved and we went with it. We are very good at agreeing on paint colors – it took us only a few minutes to pick out all the colors for our home!

Side note: The color of the paint in these pictures is different than it looks in person due to photo editing. The color is Sherwin Williams Shipwreck.

One day we found a picture of a longhorn and we both agreed it would look great in the nursery and there it was – our theme! Not really a theme, I suppose, but almost like a focal point. We already owned a cowhide rug, so we decided to add that in the room. Since our floors are dark and the brown in the rug is dark, we decided on a dark crib from Buy Buy Baby. For a long time, that was all that was in the nursery!

The first thing I ever added to my registry was a white rocking chair & ottoman from Pottery Barn Kids. Brett’s mom purchased them for us (ottoman will arrive later) and it is still one of my favorite pieces in the room! My other favorite piece is our dresser. We drove about an hour over into Kansas to pick up a dresser we had seen online, but when we got there, the color was not what we expected and we did not want to buy it. However, the first dresser we came across in the boutique we happened to fall in love with and we bought it instead! It looks amazing and is very practical too, with 6 roomy drawers that open and close really easily. We are using it as both a dresser and a changing table! I wrote a post about how I organized the dresser – find it here!

Just preparing for those early morning cups of coffee!

Brett said from the beginning that he wanted a rifle to put on the wall. I came across a gun decoration at Hobby Lobby and surprised him with it. Our little man will be introduced to all things BOY!

Our friends gifted us this adorable longhorn ottoman that looks perfect in there!

I see this shelf/hook as a perfect opportunity to show off his adorable clothing!

I did have a baby swing in the nursery that I purchased from a friend who was finished using it, but we decided a better location for it would be in the living room. It’ll be easier to keep an eye on him in there. We also bought a rocker for him to lay in while I am showering, cooking, doing laundry, etc. that is smaller and more portable!

Even though we have a Halo bassinet in our bedroom that Baby H will sleep in for the first few months, I am so excited to get to use his nursery! The countdown is on!
