Milkshakes + Art + Baby Bumps

It is currently 9 degrees here and snowy! I am not the biggest fan of snow, but I do appreciate a day or two of snow every once in a while – especially when I get to stay home from work because of it.

After such a fun-filled weekend, I am so glad a snow day today is allowing some time to tell all about it! Preparing for my sister’s virtual baby shower kept us busy Friday night and Saturday, then Sunday we continued our excitement about baby coming soon by going to a milkshake + art place in Kansas City followed by watching the Superbowl!

My sister is due at the beginning of March – coming up real soon! It actually makes me sad to think that any day now we won’t be pregnant together anymore. We so enjoy being pregnant at the same time! There is always so much to talk about when we get together, but especially when we have such a huge thing in common! Come the end of May, we won’t have pregnancies to compare & discuss anymore, but actual babies! Like, real-life babies…so crazy.

She preferred to have a virtual baby shower via Zoom to be on the safe side, so I had everyone who was invited send their gift to my house and my mom and I had a wrapping party on Friday night! I actually loved that we were in charge of wrapping the gifts because then the bags and wrapping paper could match – OCD, maybe?

I love to decorate, so setting up a backdrop for the Zoom meeting was so much fun for me. We used mostly items from my house and my mom’s house, plus a few other purchased touches to make it look perfect.

Here are some pictures from Saturday!

With the baby shower not being a “typical” shower like she would have liked to have had, we wanted to do a little something extra and really make it into a baby shower weekend. So, I had come across a place called Creative Culture KC on Instagram and immediately loved it. A place where you can book a party room to make a craft (they offer a craft menu for you to choose from) and possibly the best part of it all is that you can order one of their incredible milkshakes to sip and snack on while you create!

On Sunday morning we headed to KC with empty stomachs so we had plenty of room for those milkshakes! From the craft menu, I booked the mug painting craft because well, we are all three a little obsessed with coffee + hot drinks. Not sorry! When you book a mug party, they include enough mugs for 8 guests, so we were able to decorate 8 mugs rather than one each was an awesome surprise! Although, we all know I do NOT need that many more mugs.

We also had the whole place to ourselves nearly the entire time, probably because it was a cold, snowy, Sunday morning! This gave me the perfect chance to take some pictures of the adorable shop.

The first thing we did was order our milkshakes! What a tough decision that was for the three of us… I LOVE s’mores, so my decision was fairly easy. It came with two giant toasted marshmallows and a cinnamon roll. My sister was craving something with strawberry, so she ordered one that came with a whole slice of strawberry cheesecake on top! Mom decided on a birthday cake shake with a cupcake + glazed donut + sprinkles.

We took about a million pictures because they were almost too pretty to eat…ALMOST.

We got settled in with our shakes and started on our mugs! My mom and I made two each and my sister made four – she and her husband have a vacation lakehouse so she has more room for mugs than mom and I do! 😉

We had SO much fun and I already want to go back now that I’ve seen all the other cute ceramic items they have available to paint! In about a week I will go back to pick up the mugs and I think that’s a perfect excuse to get another milkshake!

We will remember this day date forever.

I can’t forget about the sister + sister bump pics we took this weekend! We weren’t sure if we would get another chance to take pregnancy pictures together before my sister’s baby arrives, so we took advantage of her being home this weekend and took lots!

I can’t wait to meet my baby niece or nephew here in the next few weeks!
