This is Me

Hello! After a few years of dreaming about publishing a blog, I am finally coming around to it. I have already posted a couple articles so far, but I think a get-to-know-me post is important

I grew up outside a small town of less than 500 people on a family-owned farm. I am a proud farmer’s daughter, granddaughter, and sister! With that being said, it won’t surprise you that I am a huge fan of cornfields, animals, and sweet tea. I went to the local K-12 school growing up and I am currently a first grade teacher there. I attended college at the University of Central Missouri – a great school for aspiring teachers and close to home. I am such a homebody! This might seem kind of odd considering I also like to travel and have been to many, many places. I currently live with my fiance and our four dogs – Bentley, Barley, Brewsky, and Shepherd. Find out some more things about me below!

This is Brett. Imagine the world‘s greatest dog dad, hard worker, sweetest heart, and best laugh, and this is him right here! He owns two businesses – one is a flatwork business and the other is a landscape business. He also has a really great beard.

I have taught 1st grade for 3 years now. Early on in college, I said I would never teach any grade below third, but I fell in love with first grade during my senior year and was able to student teach in it AND get a job in first grade, too! I love teaching because it gives me purpose and it makes me happy to see my students. I do love when the weekend comes around, though!

If I’m not drinking coffee or sweet tea, I’m probably drinking wine. But only on two conditions – it’s sweet or it’s sparkling! I actually live down the road from a winery that has the best sweet wine slushes!

Long before we even knew each other, our families went to a lake called Pomme de Terre. Now Brett and I go there together! Life is better with lake trips.

I have traveled to so many places since I was young – I am very lucky. Brett and I have been to places including South Carolina, Mexico, and Colorado twice. Soon we will be going on our honeymoon to the Dominican Republic!

I might also be found riding the backroads, shooting, or catching some bass!

But I am a girly girl too, and if it’s pink and/or leopard, I want it.
